The Team’s report: Gainesville Community Ministries

The first-ever eye clinic was at Gainesville Community Ministries on September 11, 2004. There were over a dozen members from First Lutheran Church in Gainesville that ran the clinic along with two

OD's. There were 33 patients seen ranging in age from 13-69.

Glasses dispensed:

16 readers 2 peds 14 womens 7 mens 39 total

The best part is no one was turned away!

The next clinic will be December 11th. The other great thing that came out of this is a relationship FLC is starting to build with the local Lion's Club in town. They want to 'partner up' with FLC on cleaning glasses, glasses donations, and possibly working together to buy new equipment. Both the Lion's Club and Michael, the director, from GCM thinks this project could possibly qualify for grants through the United Way to purchase equipment!
